Among the eminent professionals of modern book design I’ve ever had the good fortune to work with is Katrina Prenda, who was among those “99” book designers who responded to my book design query. Rather than abiding by my desire on how I would like the cover to appear, she took the courageous step to send me a version of a design that would appeal to her if she were in search of such a book herself ( It probably helped that she was among my target audience aimed at, among other groups, younger women with an interest in Babies and the NICU).
When I first saw her design, a gorgeous one, it sort of snapped me outside of my “how I want my book cover to be” spell. Occurring too, during a period when I was blindsided by “physical stuff” of the most profound gravity, her personal, professional, and patient attention throughout the book design course, and me, allowed the reassuring comfort that personal matters taka precedence over the book design itself. Thanks, and Double thanks Katrina. I’ll never forget you.

Her design instincts are exceptional. The image she created was beautiful and original, and it captured the spirit of the book with real sensitivity. She brought both artistic skill and a strong understanding of visual storytelling to the process.
It also meant a great deal to us that Katarina became part of an all-female creative team behind the book. From the coauthors to the editor to the designer, the process itself felt aligned with the spirit of Rebel Wisdom.
