"We had chosen this designer for our new logo and brand guide package, the design process was good, but we didn't realize that the designer must not have experience with print. Now that we have all the files, we are having challenges with having the wrong formats and what not. For example, our package included letterhead, it looked great, had a design at the bottom and top with our logo. It included the formatting of the fonts and texts throughout. We received the letterhead in an adobe illustrator file, .eps file and a .jpg file. We didn't really think about this, we just downloaded what we were given trusting that a designer who chose to submit designs for a branding package that included letterhead, business cards, envelopes, etc. would know what format we need. So now I am getting ready to write a press release with our letterhead and realize that I don't have a Microsoft word or other word processing document version. So, I open Adobe illustrator and find that the only way to use our letterhead is through adobe illustrator which is a pain in the butt and not readily available to all of our staff. I hope that in the future designers are required to give the client stationary type items in a format that's easily used rather than something that most people don't know how to use. Additionally, the blank space around our logos is so big it's hard to utilize. As I send this information to our printers and sign makers they are all saying that this designer must be experienced in web not print. This designer is great but I think they should stay in their own lane or know what's needed for items that will be printed/made into signs verses put on a website. "
