"This is the third time I’ve worked with this designer, and the first time I awarded him as the winner of a contest. The assignment was straightforward: apply a few new colorways to an existing stationery design I already owned, using an updated logo I also owned. Since I was on a tight schedule, I ended the qualification period early and gave him the win before other designers could join. It really was just color adjustments and a font change on an existing design. Honestly, I also wanted to reward his persistence—he had tried hard in several of my previous contests—and under less time pressure I would have done it myself, as I am reasonably proficient with Adobe Illustrator.
That’s why it came as a real surprise when he informed me that out of the three color variations we worked through, I would only receive one. To get the other two, he said I would need to commission additional one-on-one projects. Since I do own Illustrator and am capable of making the colorways myself, I will take care of it, notwithstanding that I am extremely busy launching a new business, which is why I went to this contest understanding that my $400 cannot but cover changing two colors on four graphic elements, and in the apparent absence of any such policy being articulated to customers.

However, as per 99designs policy, you will only receive the design that you awarded as the winner. Any additional variations or designs must be done through a 1-to-1 project. Providing designs outside of the winning entry would go against the 99designs guidelines.
