By utilizing a bespoke wordmark constructed through Golden Ratio geometry, the design mirrors the precision of high-end engineering while the fluid, interconnected letterforms subtly evoke the movement of water without relying on clichés. The integration of a distinct "M" monogram provides a versatile, secondary mark for discreet applications, such as equipment decals or hardware, positioning the brand as a multidisciplinary design studio rather than a standard contractor. Project Overview Macaluso is a heritage luxury pool builder based in Santa Barbara, specializing in custom residential swimming pools and spas since 1954. Creative Direction: I developed a stylish custom initial “M” inspired by the shape and movement of a shark fin. The concept was chosen to symbolize: - Strength and precision - Fluid motion connected to water - Confidence and premium craftsmanship - A bold yet elegant visual identity The sharp flowing geometry of the fin allowed the monogram to feel modern and luxurious while subtly connecting to the aquatic industry without using obvious pool imagery.
